Soccer Game Preview: Gatesville vs. Copperas Cove

The Gatesville Hornets will face off against the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gatesville took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. They skirted past Burnet 3-2.

Meanwhile, Copperas Cove entered their tilt with Hillsboro on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 2-0 shutout. While the Bulldawgs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-18-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jaceton Fisher was the driving force of Copperas Cove's attack as he scored both of Copperas Cove's goals, bringing his season total up to three goals.

Copperas Cove's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Gatesville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Gatesville's way against Copperas Cove in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Gatesville made off with a 4-0 win. Will Gatesville repeat their success, or does Copperas Cove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
