Volleyball Recap: West Johnston Comes Up Short + How To Watch

West Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Union Pines Vikings.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, West Johnston sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-18, 23-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-12.

Amaya Brayboy paced West Johnston's offense, picking up ten kills. Brayboy got some help from Jadelyn McNutt and her 14 assists. Carly Eagles controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Union Pines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mylee Scruggs led the charge by getting 15 digs and three aces. Scruggs is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Perkins, who had 18 assists and seven digs.

West Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Union Pines, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

West Johnston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Lee County on the 28th. As for Union Pines, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against South Johnston on the 28th.
