Football Recap: Chaney Comes Up Short

After soaring to 34 points the game before, Chaney was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 27-6 to the West Branch Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Warriors are ranked 68th).

Asuante Mickel threw for 48 yards and one TD.

Grady Hirst produced another solid performance rushing for 113 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 192 yards while completing 75% of his passes for West Branch. Jeremiah Thomas was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and a touchdown.

Chaney's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Branch, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Chaney didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-21 defeat against Canfield on the 19th. West Branch has also already played their next contest (against Howland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
