Basketball Recap: Luca Gullo and Rj Koopman Secure Win for Fredonia

A well-balanced attack led Fredonia over Dunkirk in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. The Fredonia Hillbillies walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Dunkirk Marauders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 74-53 back in January.

Fredonia was led to victory by Rj Koopman and Luca Gullo. Koopman went 9 of 13 en route to 27 points and six boards, while Gullo went 8 for 12 to rack up 22 points and six assists. What's more, Gullo also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Donovan Dowdy, who posted four points.

Fredonia now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Dunkirk, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fredonia will host Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dunkirk, they will take on Maple Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
