Lakeshore and Portage Central are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Lakeshore Lancers will be taking part in a tournament against the Portage Central Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeshore has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Lakeshore will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Kalamazoo Central, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Lakeshore took down Kalamazoo Central 55-37 on Wednesday. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Maroon Giants are ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Portage Central beat St. Joseph 49-45 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Lakeshore pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points over those games. As for Portage Central, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
