Recap: Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors vs. Seven Rivers Christian Warriors
The Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors were the 75-70 winner over the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Zephyrhills Christian Academy fell 71-61 to Seven Rivers Christian on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rogers Jones, who scored 27 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Jones scored a full 44.3% of Zephyrhills Christian Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jordani Blanc was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
Seven Rivers Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hendrix Loughridge out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Loughridge has scored at least 25% of Seven Rivers Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Johnston, who scored 26 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Zephyrhills Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Seven Rivers Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zephyrhills Christian Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they will face off against Hernando Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
