Softball Recap: Two Rivers Comes Up Short

Two Rivers fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against West De Pere on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Phantoms by a score of 2-1. The Purple Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anna Klein spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Two Rivers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Timm, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Timm is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Two Rivers' defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for West De Pere, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Coming up, Two Rivers will face off against Sturgeon Bay at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West De Pere, they will square off against Manitowoc Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
