Baseball Recap: Kearney Bearcats vs. Columbus Discoverers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Norris, Kearney was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Columbus Discoverers 14-5. With that win, Kearney brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Talyn Lewis looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned run off one hit (he also only allowed one walk).
At the plate, Bryce Andersen was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kegan Brand, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
On Columbus' side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jarrett Bell, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Kearney's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Columbus, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
