Softball Preview: Peninsula Seahawks vs. River Ridge Hawks
The Peninsula Seahawks will square off against the River Ridge Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
River Ridge will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Peninsula extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. The Seahawks never let Bellarmine Prep get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Seahawks considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Meanwhile, River Ridge made easy work of Capital on Wednesday and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.
Jaylah Sok Vandergriff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
