Baseball Game Preview: Port Angeles Roughriders vs. Orting Cardinals

The Port Angeles Roughriders are taking a road trip to face off against the Orting Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Wednesday, Port Angeles didn't have quite enough to beat Olympic and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, Orting's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Clover Park, sneaking past 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won nine in a row.

Orting pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Port Angeles, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Everything went Port Angeles' way against Orting in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, as Port Angeles made off with a 17-7 victory. Will the Roughriders repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
