Softball Recap: Girls Prep Bruisers vs. Lipscomb Academy Mustangs

Girls Prep suffered their closest loss since March 14th on Friday. They fell just short of the Lipscomb Academy Mustangs by a score of 6-4. The Bruisers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 5-1.

Sky Marshall was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Marshall was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jayla Gladden made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Calieah Reyes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Girls Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Lipscomb Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
