Basketball Game Preview: Rutland Raiders vs. Mt. Mansfield Cougars

Rutland has gone 8-2 against Mt. Mansfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rutland Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Mt. Mansfield Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Rutland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Burlington, who was ranked first at the time (Rutland was ranked 11th). Rutland was beaten by Burlington 102-53 on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled against the Seahorses recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Mt. Mansfield earned a 62-54 victory over Bellows Free Academy on Tuesday.

The win got Mt. Mansfield back to even at 10-10. As for Rutland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Rutland strolled past Mt. Mansfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 58-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rutland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
