Oxford (Conn.) took an early lead against
Seymour (Conn.) and held on for a 27-6 victory on Saturday.
The Wolverines put up seven points in the opening quarter. Oxford scored on a rushing touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter, OHS led 13-6 at the half.
The Wolverines grew their lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. Oxford's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown catch by
Marcus Esteves.
Seymour's lone touchdown came on a 75-yard kick return in the second quarter.
OHS entered the contest giving up 19.8 points per game this year. A defensively strong the Wolverines kept the Wildcats well below the 36.8 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss comes after Seymour defeated Sacred Heart 28-6 last week. The loss broke Seymour's two-game winning streak.
