Baseball Recap: St. David's Comes Up Short

St. David extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Life Camp Storm. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by just one run.

Giorgios Panagos made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

As for New Life Camp, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.

On New Life Camp's side, Ethan Windley made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Windley has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Seth Massie was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan White-Smith, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, St. David's will be playing in front of their home fans against Varsity Opponent at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Life Camp, they will venture away from home to take on South Wake at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The Storm's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabres have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
