Basketball Game Preview: East Chambers Buccaneers vs. Kountze Lions

The East Chambers Buccaneers will head out to square off against the Kountze Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Chambers knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 games -- so hopefully Kountze likes a good challenge.

East Chambers is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Hardin: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that East Chambers blew Hardin out of the water with an 83-29 final score. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Kountze had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.1 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They blew past the Wildcats 88-13. The Lions is also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 17 game they've won by 20+ points or more this season.

East Chambers better keep an eye on Zac Sells. He was instrumental in Kountze's win, going 7 for 9 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Sells is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season.

East Chambers' record now sits at 19-6. As for Kountze, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season.

East Chambers was taken down by Kountze 96-41 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can East Chambers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
