Football Game Preview: Mt. Zion Prep Academy Warriors vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders

The Mt. Zion Prep Academy Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Zion Prep Academy is looking for their season's first win.

Mt. Zion Prep Academy is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Cornerstone Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mt. Zion Prep Academy came up short against Cornerstone Christian, falling 33-13. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Mt. Zion Prep Academy came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 44th in Maryland, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 246th in Texas).

Meanwhile, Riverdale Baptist was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 24-18 to Loudoun Sports Academy. While the Crusaders had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Timberwolves 6-0.

Riverdale Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mt. Zion Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Mt. Zion Prep Academy was taken down by Riverdale Baptist 48-0 in their previous matchup back in August of 2024. Thankfully for the Warriors, Giyahni Kontosis (who picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
