Baseball Game Preview: McMichael Phoenix vs. Morehead Panthers

McMichael hasn't had much luck against Morehead recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. McMichael will welcome Morehead at 7:00 p.m. McMichael will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

McMichael's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Walkertown. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Morehead got the win against T.W. Andrews on Friday by a conclusive 15-0. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.

Judson Friese was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Sands, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Morehead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

McMichael's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Morehead, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

McMichael might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Morehead in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can McMichael avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
