Basketball Recap: Kegan Armold's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coleville over Whittell

Coleville was the 55-34 winner over Whittell when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Coleville Wolves fell 56-45 to the Whittell Warriors on Saturday.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kegan Armold, who posted 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Armold a new career-high in assists (four). Logan Torix was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 10 points.

Rocky Laremore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Whittell, shooting 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 31 points and 13 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Laremore has scored at least a third of Whittell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evander Lezama-Demazo, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Coleville has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Whittell, their win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14.

Coleville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 73-26 defeat against Mineral County on the 4th. As for Whittell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-15 loss against Virginia City on the 4th.
