Baseball Game Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Chaparral Pumas

For the second straight game, Murrieta Valley will face off against Chaparral. The Nighthawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pumas at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Murrieta Valley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Murrieta Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Chaparral on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pumas by a score of 10-9.

For Chaparral's part, Griffin Fien made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fien was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Nicholas Vazquez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Connor Wetzel was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Murrieta Valley dropped their record down to 6-17 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Chaparral, they moved to 12-10 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.
