Baseball Recap: Los Banos Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Los Banos was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Atwater Falcons 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Los Banos got a great performance from Jesse Vasquez as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Vasquez also tossed a walk, which is notable because Los Banos is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Los Banos saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin (Gabriel) Estrada, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Los Banos is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. Atwater dropped their record down to 9-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Los Banos will welcome Buhach Colony at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Los Banos is facing Buhach Colony at the right time seeing as Buhach Colony is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Atwater, they will head out on the road to take on Merced at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Merced has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something Atwater will no doubt try to take advantage of.
