Softball Recap: Lexi Elza Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat John Marshall

University hadn't done well against John Marshall recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Monarchs a 2-0 shutout. The two-run effort marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Sophia Lehosit, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep John Marshall off the board. Lehosit has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, University saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Elza, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Elza has posted since back in April of 2024.

University's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for John Marshall, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.

Coincidentally, University and John Marshall will both be playing Wheeling Park the next time they take the field. The Hawks will head out to face the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Monarchs will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
