Softball Recap: Seneca Comes Up Short

Seneca extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 17-0 to the Valley Vikings. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Red Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Valley, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 19-0).

For Valley's part, Kaydence Bailey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Bailey has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Makenna Perry and Johanna Eason did most of the damage at the plate: Perry went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Eason went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Perry has posted since back in May of 2025. Addisyn Perkins was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seneca will host Highlands at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluebirds have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jeffersontown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
