Baseball Recap: Hinton Find Success

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Hinton nor Watonga made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Comets came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Wyatt Stefler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Hinton: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-15 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Randen House, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Hinton is undefeated when House posts two or more runs, but 6-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Deuce Tripp, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hinton's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Watonga, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-12.

Looking ahead, Hinton will venture away from home to face off against Merritt at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Watonga, they will welcome Cashion at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
