Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Westside

Westside entered their tilt with Emerald on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 6-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Colter Crosby, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Emerald off the board. Crosby has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brody Caudle was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Krayton Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Westside now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Emerald, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Looking ahead, Westside will take on Wren at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 4.1, the Hurricanes 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Emerald, they will square off against Saluda at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
