Basketball Game Preview: Alcorn Central Bears vs. Walnut Wildcats

The Alcorn Central Bears will take on the Walnut Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alcorn Central has given up an average of 53.7 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Saturday, Alcorn Central ended up a good deal behind Wayne County and lost 70-52.

Meanwhile, Walnut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 93-73 to Nettleton.

Alcorn Central will have to contain Logan Wilbanks as he made an impact in Walnut's last game. He went 12-for-24 on his way to 30 points. That was a full 41.1% of Walnut's points, marking the sixth time in a row Wilbanks has posted more than a third of the team's points. Sawyer Cardwell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Alcorn Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Walnut, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Alcorn Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Walnut in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 51-44. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
