Recap: East Central Hornets vs. Gautier Gators
The East Central Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Gautier 42-38. East Central lost against Gautier in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-45 score last time.
East Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cartavious Myers, who scored 13 points. Myers scored a full 34.2% of East Central's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aj Hopkins was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
East Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Gautier, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Central will take on Vancleave at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vancleave is on a three-game streak of home losses, East Central an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. As for Gautier, they will head out on the road to face off against Laurel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
