Baseball Recap: Geneva County Wins Going Away Against Poplar Springs

Geneva County never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past the Poplar Springs Atomics 10-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Dylan Tate tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, James Wright was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Brody Griffin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Geneva County and bumps their season record up to 8-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Poplar Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Geneva County will head out to challenge Slocomb at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Poplar Springs, they will take on Sneads at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
