Basketball Recap: Franklinton Starts off Right with Win over Rolesville

Franklinton took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 win over the Rolesville Rams. For the Red Rams, this counts as revenge for the 69-18 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Franklinton was led to victory by Rihanna Hunt and Asia Burton. Hunt dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 blocks, while Burton posted 13 points. Those 11 blocks gave Hunt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Perry, who scored five points.

Despite the defeat, Rolesville had strong showings from Bella-Michele Horton, who put up 11 points, and Zoe Whitfield, who earned 12 points.

Rolesville's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Franklinton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 37-36 defeat against Corinth Holders on the 25th. As for Rolesville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-39 win against Wake Forest on the 25th.
