After a string of six wins, East Bladen's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the South Columbus Stallions by a score of 8-7. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stallions earlier this season, when they won 9-8.
Martha Simmons was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Allen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
East Bladen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for South Columbus, their record now sits at 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Bladen will venture away from home to square off against Whiteville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Wolfpack have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for South Columbus, they are taking a road trip to challenge South Stanly at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
