Basketball Recap: San Ysidro Cougars vs. Mount Miguel Matadors
San Ysidro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Mount Miguel Matadors, falling 65-34. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Matadors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why San Ysidro lost, don't look at Jordan Miranda. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. Miranda's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Logan Songvilay was another key player, putting up eight points.
Jamell Willey was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 13 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds for Mount Miguel. Willey is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Williams, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points.
San Ysidro's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Mount Miguel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Ysidro will welcome Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonita Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. As for Mount Miguel, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Morse at 7:30 p.m.
