Recap: Clarkson/Leigh Patriots vs. Stanton Mustangs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pierce, the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took down Stanton 51-36. Clarkson/Leigh pushed the score to 45-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Stanton cut but never quite recovered from.

Trey Steffensmeier was a one-man wrecking crew for Clarkson/Leigh as he scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Korbin Lemburg, who scored nine points.

Stanton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tanner Simmerman, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Hupp, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Clarkson/Leigh's win bumped their record up to 2-16. As for Stanton, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Clarkson/Leigh will challenge David City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. David City is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season. As for Stanton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri County Northeast on Friday. Hopefully Tri County Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
