Baseball Recap: Valencia Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Valencia won the last time they faced West Mesa and things went their way on Friday too. Valencia came out on top against West Mesa by a score of 8-3. While the Jaguars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Horacio Romero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Zaylon Zamora was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Luna, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Valencia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. West Mesa dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Valencia beat West Mesa by a score of 4-3 later that day.
