Basketball Game Preview: Jackson County Blue Devils vs. York Institute Dragons

Jackson County hasn't had much luck against York Institute recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jackson County Blue Devils will take on the York Institute Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Jackson County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully York Institute likes a good challenge.

Jackson County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 97-51 win over Monterey. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Wildcats are ranked 395th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, York Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-37 heartbreaker at the hands of Watertown.

Jackson County pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for York Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Things could have been worse for Jackson County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 79-61 loss to York Institute when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Jackson County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
