Basketball Recap: Durango Comes Up Short

Durango lost to Fruita Monument back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Demons were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 55-27. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Durango lost, don't look at Ryne Neiman. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Fruita Monument was led to victory by Hailee Wagner and Maggie Meyer. Wagner dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards, while Meyer went 5-for-8 en route to 14 points. The dominant performance also gave Wagner a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Sophie Emerson, who had six points and nine rebounds.

Durango's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Fruita Monument, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7.

Coincidentally, Durango and Fruita Monument will both be playing Grand Junction the next time they take the court. The Demons will head out to face the Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wildcats will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
