Baseball Recap: Louis E. Dieruff Takes a Loss

Louis E. Dieruff extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Allentown Central Catholic Vikings, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

Louis E. Dieruff saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jean Varela, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Allentown Central Catholic, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Allentown Central Catholic's side, they let Matthew Rader and Michael Martinez run wild. Rader fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2, while Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Martinez has posted since back in May of 2024. Aidan Sorrentino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Louis E. Dieruff will venture away from home to challenge Brandywine Heights Area at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bullets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.29 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Allentown Central Catholic, they will face off against Nativity BVM at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
