Basketball Recap: South Iredell Comes Up Short

South Iredell played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-21 defeat at the hands of the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Ragin' Bulls recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Ma-Kaela Gidney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hickory Ridge, going 9 for 15 en route to 24 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Gidney's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Amya Leathers, who posted eight points and five steals.

South Iredell's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Hickory Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Iredell will take on Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Iredell is facing Mooresville at the right time seeing as Mooresville is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hickory Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lake Norman at 6:00 p.m. Hickory Ridge is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Lake Norman a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
