Baseball Game Preview: Rolesville Rams vs. Wakefield Wolverines

The Rolesville Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Wakefield Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Rolesville came up short against Wakefield and fell 6-2. The Rams have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

For Wakefield's part, Tyler Rotellini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Rotellini has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Thomas Piscorik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Luke Blackburn was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Wakefield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.17 hits in those games compared to only 5.5 in the others. As for Rolesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. However, it's not like Wakefield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts.
