Basketball Recap: Grant Takes a Loss

Grant lost against Franklin Parish back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grant Cougars were dealt a 76-40 loss at the hands of the Franklin Parish Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Patriots are ranked 95th).

Grant's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was L Fletcher, who posted nine points. R Searcy was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Grant dropped their record down to 7-23 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road. As for Franklin Parish, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-14 record this season.

Grant will be playing in front of their home fans against Tioga at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Tioga knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Grant likes a good challenge. Franklin Parish has already played their next game (against West Ouachita), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
