Basketball Recap: Columbus Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Columbus, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Vicksburg Gators 59-56. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Columbus' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Vicksburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

Columbus and Vicksburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Columbus (ranked 124th) will meet Callaway (ranked 13th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Vicksburg will square off against Neshoba Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 46 places (66 vs. 20).
