The Middletown Middie Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Goshen Central Gladiators at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Middletown not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 22-0). They blew past Newburgh Free Academy 17-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Middie Bears.

Bethannie French was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Gabriella Diaz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Isabella Platero also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Goshen Central and Cornwall Central had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Gladiators were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Dragons on Tuesday. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Like Middletown, Goshen Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Freiberger. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Freiberger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Springer, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Olivia Jordan was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Goshen Central's record now sits at 12-4. As for Middletown, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Middletown was able to grind out a solid victory over Goshen Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 5-1.
