Softball Recap: Porter Beats Pace for Their Third Straight Victory

Porter waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Pace Vikings. This was a revenge game for the Cowboys: when they faced off against the Vikings back in March, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Mia Sosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Porter saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miley Cortez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cortez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Porter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pace only managed five hits.

Porter's record now sits at 11-6. As for Pace, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Porter will take on Weslaco East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Pace, they will challenge Donna North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
