Baseball Recap: Anacoco Comes Up Short

If Anacoco was feeling good fresh off their 21-1 takedown of Southwood last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Anacoco Indians took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zwolle Hawks on Tuesday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Anacoco saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gatlyn Jernigan, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Jernigan a new career-high in runs.

Anacoco's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Zwolle, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anacoco will face off against Vinton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Zwolle, they will take on Red River at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
