Newport is 2-8 against Cascade since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Wednesday. The Cubs will be playing at home against the Cougars  at 5:00  p.m. Newport has given up an average of 12.2  runs per game this season, but Wednesday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Newport came up short against  Philomath on Monday, falling  20-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest  loss the Cubs have suffered  against the Warriors since April 12, 2018.
  Ivy Ruddiman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
Meanwhile, Cascade strolled into their game  on Monday with a perfect  record and they left with the same. They never let Stayton get on the board and left with  a   10-0  win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 contests by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Malia Scanlan was  incredible,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Pearl Pruett, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Cascade  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least eight  hits in 11 consecutive  matchups.
 Cascade pushed their record up to 14-0 with the  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Newport,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 3-9.
 Newport took their  victory against Cascade  in their previous meeting  back in May of 2024 by a conclusive  14-7 score. Do  the Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
