Softball Recap: Harrold Comes Up Short

Harrold managed to slip by Knox City the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hornets came up short against the Greyhounds on Friday, falling 11-1. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Greyhounds earlier this season, when they won 13-11.

Harrold saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylie Maness, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Maness' first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Harrold and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-5 Northside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.1% over those games). As for Knox City, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrold will face off against Munday at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Moguls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Knox City, they will take on Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.93 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
