Soccer Game Preview: Mead vs. Cheney

The Mead Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Cheney Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mead will be strutting in after a victory while Cheney will be coming in after a defeat.

Mead will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Shadle Park on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 7-0 win. That looming 7-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mead yet this season.

Meanwhile, Cheney didn't have quite enough to beat Lewis & Clark on Wednesday and fell 2-1. Cheney have struggled against Lewis & Clark recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Cheney's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mead, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Everything went Mead's way against Cheney when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Mead made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
