Softball Game Preview: Walton-Verona Bearcats vs. Collins Titans

Walton-Verona is 0-3 against Collins since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. Walton-Verona will face off against Collins at 6:00 p.m.

Walton-Verona came up short against Grant County on Thursday, falling 9-3.

Ava Donato was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Jennifer Alexander also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Collins made sure to put some runs up on the board against Whitefield Academy on Tuesday. Collins walked away with a 12-7 win over Whitefield Academy.

Collins let Peyton Haverly and Allie Renfro run wild. Haverly scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Renfro got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI. Maggie Renfro was another key player, scoring two runs.

Walton-Verona's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Collins, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Walton-Verona suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Collins when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Walton-Verona avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
