The Ider Hornets will challenge the Skyline Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ider has five straight wins, Skyline has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ider not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th. They blew past Valley Head 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brynley Traylor and Miklyn Troxtel made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Traylor struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Troxtel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave Traylor a new career-high. At bat, Traylor got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, while Troxtel scored two runs while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makinley Traylor, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Milee Troxtel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Ider always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Head only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, Skyline didn't have quite enough to beat Pisgah on Tuesday and fell 10-8. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly two runs.
Ider's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 7-19.
Ider might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Skyline when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
