Softball Recap: Canandaigua Academy Gets the Win

Canandaigua Academy won the last time they faced Churchville-Chili and things went their way on Monday too. The Gray Wolves walked away with a 12-9 victory over the Saints. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gray Wolves.

Cora Holtby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Holtby was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Delilah Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Hyland, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Canandaigua Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Churchville-Chili only posted a batting average of .343.

Canandaigua Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Churchville-Chili, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canandaigua Academy will welcome Gates Chili at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Churchville-Chili, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Irondequoit at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
