Baseball Recap: North Has No Trouble Against Mayfield

North hadn't done well against Mayfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rangers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Rangers have posted against the Wildcats since April 13, 2022.

Jacob Breen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has become a key player for North: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Breen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Braylon Rolf and Brady Pennza did most of the damage at the plate: Rolf went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Pennza went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave Rolf a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Torres, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for North and bumps their season record up to 4-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-5 Mayfield and 4-6 Chardon. As for Mayfield, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-5.

North has already played their next game, a 14-13 defeat against Chardon on the 16th. As for Mayfield, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against South on the 16th.
