Baseball Recap: Riverview East Academy Wins Going Away Against Spencer Center

Riverview East Academy had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-3 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Spencer Center. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.

Arliss Estepp and Ethan Waters were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Estepp pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Waters pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Riverview East Academy's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). At the plate, Estepp went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Waters got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Estepp is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, George Rubinstein and Crosley Shroyer did most of the damage at the plate: Rubinstein went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and three RBI, while Shroyer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Riverview East Academy is undefeated when Shroyer posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Aiden McGuire also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Riverview East Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spencer Center only posted an OBP of .353.

As for Spencer Center, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Spencer Center's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashad Sitawi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Riverview East Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-5 defeat against Hughes on the 9th. Spencer Center has also already played their next contest (against Mt. Healthy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
